Scent Hurdling is new to the UK so of course we're jumping on the band wagon!
Scent Hurdling combines the relay racing and jumps of Flyball with the scent work of Detection!
Here at Poochadise, our Scent Hurdling classes are fun based and not for those wishing to compete. If you wish to compete, please go to the 'Scent Hurdling UK' website for a list of instructors near your area.
How does it work?
Scent Hurdling is a relay race with 2 x teams of 4 x dogs. Each team has to release one dog to go over 4 jumps to a box located at the end of the run. This box is split into 4 sections which are numbered. These numbers correspond to each dog. The dog has to find and collect the dumbbell that has been scented by their owner to bring it back across the jumps to the finish line for the next dog to go. The teams compete against each other-the quickest team wins!
This 8 week course is broken down week by week so your dog can gain confidence with the jumps, learn to recognise their dumbbell scent and get speedy with the art of retrieval!
Dog's must be 9+ months and no experience is necessary.
As this is a team sport, dogs in attendance must be comfortable with other off lead dogs.
Scent Hurdling is available 121 should your dog require space.
Our beginners Scent Hurdling courses are 8 weeks long and cost £120.
Wednesdays at 8.30pm in Holt Village Hall, BH21 7DJ.
