What are the benefits of Scent work?

Mental enrichment, confidence building for you and your dog, it's a calming activity, assists in building bonds between you and your dog, physical stimulation and the best part...any dog can do it!


There are two types of Scent work courses available. No experience is necessary!



'Scent work: Detection'


Course starts: Sunday 15th June

£90 per dog

At Hayter's, Rowe Hill Farm, Holt, BH21 7EB. 

11.30am-12.30pm

This 5-week outdoor course is a fantastic opportunity to teach your dog how to detect different scents, how to search different locations for particular scents and how to alert you to them successfully finding the chosen scents.

The course is broken down into scent indication, bag searches, article searches, pipe searches and scent bag finds.

The course holds up to 5 dogs plus handlers.



'Scent work: Tracking


Various Locations surrounding Wimborne, Branksome, Sandbanks, Ferndown & West Moors.

Time and Date TBC

£108 per dog

6 weeks

What is tracking?

Tracking is a skill which enables your dog to detect, recognise and follow a specific scent with their nose to the ground. It is a fantastic energy burner and a great skill to hone in on! The course delivers a positive scent experience to the dogs and improves their lives through nose work!

The course is broken down into article indication, track laying, straight line tracks, tracks with bends and tracks with 2 or more articles. Different environments/locations are used during this course.

The course holds up to 4 dogs plus handlers. Course takes place outdoors.

TRIAL DAYS

Upon completion of either scent work course, you are invited to join in on trial days where your skills as a handler (and your dog's nose) will be put to the test! Prizes for the fastest team!
